The engine is still alive and kicking (CF3, not ver 2 though). Check out Wings Over Flanders Fields and Wings Over The Reich if you don't know about them.

i was never able to complete a single mission of this game lol

I think it was the second or third Norwegian campaign where i had all but a couple other squadron members dead, and had to do the final stage with just me and a couple other Tomcats. This is definitely a challenging, but rewarding, game. I'd think that only having A/A missions would be super limiting, but the clever branching campaigns, and surprisingly varied missions, kept me coming back for more. This game is a true classic.

"Player: Captured" Damn, hope that pilot had a pistol, but not for escaping...

The flight model in this game was quite amazing, perfect balance of arcade and simulation. Even today some flight games do not feature such things like wing-ground effect.

great game i was a teen when this was new crazy that this campaign mission called how the war would go down in Ukraine from NATO not helping to where the Russians would attack back in 97 and we are in 2024 the company JANE'S still around they just do real work instead of video games

I refunded this a couple or three years back. It showed lots of promise but was let down by the dev. I can't persuade myself to part with the cash a second time (when I can't refund it) until I'm positive it's going forward. Hopefully Microprose has bought into pushing it forward and not just bought into the dev's promises, like many of us did. Time will tell.
